The UK Border Agency has today released guidance outlining how the new higher maintenance requirements will be introduced.

Any application received on or after 14th June 2012 will need to include evidence of maintenance at the new levels, and the new higher level of maintenance must have been held for the full 90 day period.

90 days prior to the 14th June is 15th March. This means that individuals intending to apply on 14th June must start to hold the increased maintenance level in their accounts today (15th March). If you intend to apply on 15th June you will need to hold the funds in your account from tomorrow (16th March); if you intend to apply on 16th June you will need to hold the funds in your account from Saturday (17th March), etc.

Applicants must be careful to plan sufficiently in advance, and start to hold the new funds in their account now, even though the new rules will not be introduced until April and not enforced until June.
